Question 1

Do you offer free pickup and delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we provide complimentary white-glove pickup and delivery for premium rug cleaning and restoration services across the San Francisco Peninsula, including Atherton, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Menlo Park, and surrounding areas.

Question 2

How long does the rug cleaning process take?

Accepted Answer

A standard deep hand-wash and natural drying process takes approximately 10 to 14 days.

Question 3

How long does rug repair and restoration take?

Accepted Answer

Restoration timelines depend on the severity of damage. Minor fringe repairs may take an additional week, while complex reweaving or severe moth damage restoration can take 3 to 6 weeks. Exact timelines are provided after inspection.

Question 4

Do you use steam cleaners or carpet cleaning machines on area rugs?

Accepted Answer

No. Fine rugs undergo a cold-water submersion hand-wash process.

Question 5

Can you fix moth damage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The rug is treated to neutralize larvae and eggs, then damaged foundation and pile can be rebuilt to match the original design.

Question 6

Do you clean silk rugs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pure silk and silk-blend rugs receive specialized, controlled washing appropriate to the fiber and dyes.

Question 7

Do I need to move my heavy furniture before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

No. The insured white-glove team can carefully shift furniture, safely roll the rug, and return the room when the rug is delivered.

Question 8

Can a moth-eaten rug be repaired?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in most cases. The rug is washed and treated to remove larvae and eggs, then bare areas are re-knotted by hand to match the original pattern, and damaged foundation is rewoven.

Question 9

How do I get rid of carpet moths for good?

Accepted Answer

Vacuum thoroughly, including under furniture and along edges, have affected rugs professionally washed to flush out larvae and eggs, then keep rugs clean and rotated and monitor with pheromone traps. Scents like cedar only deter adults.

Question 10

How much does rug restoration cost?

Accepted Answer

Restoration is priced after inspection because it depends on the area, weave density, materials and color matching. Edge binding is published at $28 per linear foot by machine and $50 by hand; you receive a written estimate before any work begins.

Question 11

How many years should a hand-knotted rug last?

Accepted Answer

A well-made hand-knotted wool rug can last for generations with regular cleaning, rotation and timely repairs, while a machine-made synthetic rug typically lasts several years to a decade.

Question 12

What is the best way to clean a Persian rug?

Accepted Answer

A professional hand wash: dyes are tested, dry soil is dusted out of the foundation, and the rug is fully immersed and washed by hand in cold water with pH-balanced soap, rinsed clear and dried flat. Never steam.

Question 13

Can I clean my Persian rug myself?

Accepted Answer

Routine care, yes: vacuum without a beater bar, blot spills with cool water and rotate the rug. A full wash is best left to a specialist, because dyes can run and a rug that dries slowly can develop odors or mildew.

Question 14

How much does it cost to clean an 8x10 or 9x12 rug?

Accepted Answer

At our published rates an 8x10 (80 sq ft) is $360 machine-made, $520 handmade wool, $600 Persian or Oriental and $640 silk; a 9x12 (108 sq ft) is $486, $702, $810 and $864. The written estimate after inspection is the final price.

Question 15

Is professional rug cleaning worth it?

Accepted Answer

For a rug you want to keep, yes. Most of the soil that wears a rug out is dry grit deep in the foundation, and a professional wash removes it with allergens, odors and stains, without the dye bleeding or shrinkage home cleaning can cause.

Question 16

Can I use Dawn dish soap or baking soda on my rug?

Accepted Answer

Diluted dish soap can spot clean a synthetic rug and baking soda can freshen one, but dish soap leaves residue that attracts dirt and is risky on wool and silk. For handmade rugs, blot with cool water and leave washing to a specialist.

Question 17

Why does my rug look dirtier after cleaning?

Accepted Answer

Usually detergent residue that attracts new soil, or soil deep in the foundation wicking up as it dries. Less detergent, a full clean-water rinse and fast drying prevent both; washing the whole rug removes the deep soil.

Question 18

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer
